Our goal here at Opus1 Community Management is to have our Board Members and Homeowners continually rave about the quality of our services. We know that’s a high bar to set, but we believe with our commitment to serving you efficiently and with integrity we can reach it.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

At Opus 1 Community Management, our mission is to provide personal and professional community management services based on integrity and exceptional customer service. We understand that each association is unique, so we customize our services to meet the complex needs of each association.

Our goal is to have our board members and business owners continually rave about the high quality of our services.
Opus 1 Community Management was founded on the knowledge gained working for the large management corporations. We use that experience along with “small town” personal customer service to provide the community management support that board members and business owners expect and deserve!

Our seasoned management team at Opus 1 Community Management has over 20 years’ experience in building and managing common interest communities.

We and our board members and business owners work as a team. By collaborating with our community members, we can together determine the best solutions and provide the best support for each individual association.

Tonya BatesCMCA, AMS, PCAM, Supervising Community Manager
Tonya Bates, DCAL, CMCA, AMS, PCAM, grew up in Northwest Iowa, moving to Las Vegas with her family as a teenager. Tonya attended the College of Southern Nevada, with a focus on Deaf Culture and Addiction Studies. Switching gears, Tonya then attained the professional licenses for and designations of Supervising Community Manager (SCM), Certified Manager of Community Associations (CMCA) and Association Management Specialist (AMS). After relocating to the Reno area in 2011, she acquired the prestigious Professional Community Association Manager (PCAM) designation from CAI in 2012. In 2015 she earned her Dedicated Community Association Leader (DCAL) certificate through CAI. She is currently attending Truckee Meadows Community College with an emphasis in Business Accounting.

After employment with various management companies, both small and large, Tonya founded Opus 1 Community Management in October 2013. Her first client was a small management company in Southern Nevada, for whom she consulted. In this consultation, Tonya evaluated and modified the company’s policies and procedures, which led to bringing the managed associations into compliance with their governing documents and Nevada Revised Statues (NRS) 116. Her consulting duties encompassed the supervision and management of 15 homeowner associations.

Under Tonya’s direction, Opus 1 continues to grow at a steady pace. As of April 2019, we manage two business condominium associations and eleven common interest communities.

Tonya served as the Chair of the CAI Northern Nevada Education Committee from 2011-2013 and 2016-2018. That volunteer service helped educate business owners, volunteer board members and community managers in the art of building and managing communities. Currently, she is serving on the Board of Directors of the CAI Nevada Chapter. She received these awards for her dedication to the CAI Nevada Chapter:

• 2010 AMS Manager of the Year
• 2011 Northern Nevada Portfolio Manager of the Year
• 2012 Volunteer of the Year
• 2013 Northern Nevada Portfolio Manager of the Year
• 2016 President’s Award
• 2018 Northern Nevada Portfolio Manager of the Year

Tonya has published numerous articles in “Community Interests Magazine,” a magazine dedicated to updating and reporting the current affairs of the Common Interest Community Industry.

Furthermore, she also coordinated the Community Outreach programs for the CAI Northern Nevada Committee. This included volunteering and organizing food drives for the Food Bank of Northern Nevada, and partnering with the administrative staff at Virginia Palmer Elementary to provide holiday gifts, meals for disadvantaged elementary children, and organizing participants for Sierra Nevada Donate Life Walk.

Finally, as a current member of a women’s philanthropic group in Northern Nevada, she has volunteered in various fundraising events, such as those at the Reno Rodeo, the Reno Air Races, the Ride for the Tatas, Moms on the Run, and Wreaths across America.
